The Dawghouse 2026

So as I was getting ready for bed last night, I stumbled across this furry event everybody was clowning on called The Dawghouse.

Which is NOT to be confused with FENDI’S event by the same name, which is actually super cool if you somehow haven’t heard of it already haha.

At first, it was honestly really easy to laugh at. The entire concept felt completely off-the-wall. It basically came across as an event built around every complaint people currently have about the furry fandom. Some people argue the fandom is being overrun by “fandom tourists” who see it more as a temporary aesthetic or fashion accessory than an actual community.

And I’ll admit, even for me, it was easy to make fun of at first because of how absurd the whole thing sounded.

They were advertising exotic cars, personal chefs, professional videographers, and a steep $900 attendance fee.

But then I ended up reading a post from one of the people helping organize the event, Nebula the Proto, and I started to understand where they were coming from a little more.

Do I still think the event itself is kind of in poor taste? Yeah, honestly, I do.

But I can also relate to the intentions behind it.

So I replied to Nebula, who said

I ended up telling them a bit about my experience with LVFC and explained that building successful events takes a LOT of sacrifice, coordination, teamwork, and trust in the people around you. You can’t do something like that alone. The best events happen when everybody involved contributes their strengths and genuinely wants to build something good together.

I think some of the teasing is warranted, but I also think replying to them the way I did was the right thing to do.

Maybe giving them a little encouragement now means they try again someday in a better way. Maybe one supportive voice in the middle of hundreds of hateful comments helps somebody grow instead of just giving up entirely.

I don’t know.

We all make mistakes. We are all young and impulsive at some point.

And before somebody calls me an “old-head” or whatever, just know I genuinely want what’s best for the fandom because I really do love this community and always will.
